Candida Albicans, or yeast, lives in the digestive tract and can health cause problems if it is not removed. Using a cleanse is part of a system to get rid of yeast.

Both good and bad bacteria take up house in the intestinal tract and other parts of the body. Yeast is a normally occurring flora that is acquired, like any bacteria, and is usually harmless. The "good" bacteria helps to kill off yeast and also assists with nutritional absorption and digestion.

However, candida overgrowth is linked to many illnesses and digestive problems. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Autism, ADHD, ADD, autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, Crohn’s Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and many other illnesses are considered to be aggravated by or even caused by too much yeast in the body.

Cleansing the digestive tract helps restore balance to the system. This is most successful when following a yeast-free diet, supplementing with anti-fungal herbs or prescriptions and using herbs and fiber to clean out the digest tract.

Cleansing Yeast with Herbs, Anti-Fungals, and Probiotics

  • Herbs used for cleansing are Buckhorn, Berberry, Garlic, Tea Tree Oil and Grape Seed Extract. One of the most important things to use during a cleanse is Psyllium Fiber, which is marketed under many commercial names and is available in different forms including powder, pills, capsules. Consult your health care practitioner if you are unsure which one is best for your candida cleansing routine.

  • Anti-Fungals kill off fungus from our bodies. Doctors can prescribe medicines to do this, like Nystatin, Diflucan or Amphotericin B. Natural forms like Caprylic Acid, and Castor Bean Oil (undeclyenic acid) in the form of SF722 has been proven to effectively remove yeast and other fungus.

  • Probiotics have been used for years to improve intestinal health. Many doctors have begun recommending taking or eating probiotics when someone is on an antibiotic to counteract the drug’s effect of killing off good bacteria as well as bad.

How to Find and Use Probiotics

Probiotics are commonly found in commercial yogurt, Kombucha tea, Miso, tempeh and other fermented foods and other dairy products. Probiotics also come in pill, powder or capsule form as well. Most natural and health food stores carry good quality probiotic supplements and products. Look for “live cultures” on food labels or terms like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. Bugaricus, Streptococcus Thermophilus, Bifidobacteria or Bifidus.

Incorporate Probiotics and Cleansing with a Healthy Diet

Eat a diet filled with complex carbohydrates, raw foods and other fiber in addition to probiotics, antifungals and Psyllium. Following a healthy diet can reduce the the need and frequency to cleanse yeast from the digestive system and help alleviate symptoms caused from yeast overgrowth.
